Indian Women's Cricket team makes history by lifting first ICC Women's World Cup Trophy
In a historic and emotional night for Indian cricket, the India Women’s team clinched their first-ever 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup title by defeating South Africa by 52 runs in the final at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai.
Opening batter Shafali Verma lit up the match with a fearless 87 off 78 balls, propelling India to a formidable total of 298/7. Meanwhile, all-rounder Deepti Sharma turned the game decisively with a brilliant spell of 5 wickets for 39 runs, earning the title of Player of the Tournament with 22 wickets and 215 runs overall.
That the triumph came on home soil made it even more special. India had previously reached the finals in 2005 and 2017 but had fallen short — this time, they made it count in spectacular fashion.
Beyond the numbers, this victory carries a deeper significance: it marks a turning point for women’s cricket in India, inspiring millions of young girls to dream big and proving that perseverance, unity, and belief can create history.
Congratulations to Team India for writing a golden new chapter in Indian cricket history! 🏆🇮🇳
