TMC MPs Raise Voice in Delhi: ‘Respect Bengali Language, Respect Bengal
Delhi:
TMC MPs, led by senior leaders Kalyan Banerjee and Mahua Moitra, gathered in the heart of the national capital to register their protest over the Bengali language row that has sparked heated debates across the state and beyond.
The protest centered on allegations that the status of Bengali was being diluted in administrative and educational policies, with the TMC accusing the ruling dispensation of promoting a “Hindi-first agenda” at the cost of India’s linguistic diversity.
“Bengali is not just a language, it’s our identity, our pride,” Mahua Moitra declared during the protest. “We will never allow anyone to diminish its place in India’s cultural and linguistic landscape.”
Kalyan Banerjee added that the issue is not political but cultural, stressing that language rights must be safeguarded for every community in India.
The demonstration drew attention from media and onlookers, with the TMC making it clear that it will continue raising its voice both inside and outside Parliament until assurances are given.
Analysts suggest that this strong push for linguistic rights will resonate deeply with the people of West Bengal, further strengthening TMC’s narrative of defending regional pride against centralizing tendencies.
