Ahmedabad, August 26, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the mass production and global rollout of Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara, India’s first fully Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) designed for international markets. The historic event took place at the company’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat, where Modi flagged off the e-Vitara destined for over 100 countries, aligning closely with India’s Make in India, Make for the World vision.

  • Battery Ecosystem Growth: Modi inaugurated local production of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS plant—a collaboration between Suzuki, Toshiba, and Denso—that ensures over 80% battery value addition happens domestically.

  • Massive ₹70,000 Crore Investment: Suzuki Motor Corporation announced plans to invest this amount over the next 5–6 years to reinforce EV manufacturing infrastructure, battery production, and R&D in India.
