Heavy Rain Triggers Babhanbay Slope Collapse in Hazaribag, Locals Fear More Landslides

In Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district, the Babhanbay slope has partially collapsed following days of heavy rainfall, raising concerns of further landslides in the region. The incident has sparked fear among local residents, many of whom live near the affected hillside.

According to local authorities, the continuous downpour weakened the soil structure, causing a significant portion of the slope to give way. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far. However, the risk remains high, with more rain predicted in the coming days.

Disaster management teams have been deployed to assess the situation and advise residents on safety measures. Temporary barriers are being considered to prevent debris from reaching nearby settlements and roads.

Experts warn that the region’s hilly terrain is particularly vulnerable to landslides during monsoon seasons, and proactive measures are crucial to protect communities. Authorities have urged people to avoid the slope area and report any further signs of soil movement.
