Historic Day for Bihar: PM Modi Unveils Massive Development Push in Motihari

Motihari, July 18 — In what is being called a landmark moment for Bihar’s development journey, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated and dedicated to the nation projects worth over ₹7,200 crore in Motihari, East Champaran. The visit attracted an overwhelming crowd, with people lining up hours before the event to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister.



PM Modi’s Motihari visit underscores the government's focus on revitalizing historically significant yet infrastructure-deprived regions. The projects span critical sectors including housing, road connectivity, irrigation, and clean drinking water.

Addressing the public, PM Modi said, "Bihar is not just a land of history and culture; it’s a land of potential. We are committed to converting that potential into progress."

Among the inaugurated initiatives were:

  • Rural electrification upgrades under Saubhagya Scheme

  • Housing completions under PMAY-Gramin

  • Expansion of Jal Jeevan Mission to increase drinking water supply coverage

  • New and improved roads for better connectivity in rural and border regions

The Prime Minister also paid tribute to the region’s rich freedom struggle legacy, highlighting East Champaran’s link to Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha movement. "Development must reach every corner of the nation, and places like Champaran must lead the way," PM Modi said.

Local leaders described the moment as a "new chapter" for Bihar. BJP state president Dr. Dilip Jaiswal added, “PM Modi’s every visit brings development. Today’s projects are transformative in scale and scope.”

The inauguration aligns with the government’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047 and serves as a strong message of the Centre’s continued commitment to Bihar’s growth.
